Eligibility To be eligible to apply for the IREE 2010 program you must be:
In addition, women, underrepresented groups, and students from schools with limited research opportunities are particularly encouraged to apply. Selection Applications will be reviewed by members of the IREE 2010 administrative team at Purdue University. Evaluation will be based on criteria such as academic achievement and performance, research experience, long-term career plans, motivations for working in China, and other international experience and interests. Students who opt for self-placement would need to demonstrate solid linkage either through personal connections or on-going research work with faculty advisors and other research collaborators. Preference will also be given to those students who express a demonstrated interest in the study of Chinese language and/or culture - though prior study or experience in China is NOT required. International students on a valid student visa at a U.S. college or university are eligible to apply, though strong preference must be given to United States citizens or nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States. The term "national" designates a native resident of a commonwealth or territory of the United States, including American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, or the Northern Mariana Islands. It does not refer to a citizen of another country who has applied for U.S. citizenship. If selected for the 2010 IREE program you must be able to obtain a visa to enter China and have a valid U.S. visa that will permit you to return to the USA for the rest of your study. |
