| Biography | Nancy Clement received a BS’89 and MS’05 from Purdue University’s College of Technology. She is currently enrolled in an Executive Master of Arts in Philanthropic Studies at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. Her research interest is primarily: how social and organizational change can be accomplished through leadership, entrepreneurship and networks, the holistic approach to sustainability. She is currently the Interim Director of the Social Entrepreneurship Initiative. She recently visited EARTH University, Costa Rica, where she participated in a Maymester program with eighteen students from various universities working with local Eco Tourism projects. Other outreach projects include presentations to elementary students on inventions, innovations, intellectual property protection, and social entrepreneurship. She annually facilitates two Idea- to-Product Competitions for Social Entrepreneurship – local (Purdue) and national. 2009 Purdue hosted the Social Entrepreneurship and Education Consortium North American Conference which Nancy coordinated and received grants to fund. She also does consulting under the business name Initiatives for Social Entrepreneurship – Innovations for Social Enterprise, (I4SE)2. Nancy has written and presented over ten papers for various conferences including ASEE, AUTM, USASBE, and NCIIA. She has been asked to peer review papers and moderate panel discussions related to Social Entrepreneurship. She served as Interim Vice President and Treasurer for the board of Association for Space, Science, Engineering, and Technology (ASSET) dba – Imagination Station, a nonprofit organization. The Imagination Station is a small hands-on children’s museum in the Lafayette, Indiana area. She is a Faculty Fellow for Windsor Hall and was the 2006 recipient of both the Fredrick L. Hovde and the Frank Murphy Outstanding Faculty Fellow Award. From 1990-93 Nancy introduced and coordinated the American Society for Quality’s “Koalas Kid” program at Linwood Elementary School in Lafayette, IN. Prior to her employment at Purdue, Nancy was president of a family run “S” corporation. She has been an independent contractor for several longitudinal studies sponsored by the US Department of Education and the US Census Bureau. She started her first business at the age of 22 and has been involved in business related activities ever since. Nancy was first called an “Entrepreneur” in 1983 when she was exploring opportunities in direct marketing (prior to the internet). |
