Biography
My interest in global engineering education dates back 1996 when, as an undergrad, I spent a year teaching English in China. One of my favorite classes was a group of engineers who worked for China’s space program. After completion of my undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering, I worked in industry for six years. Four of those years were spent working for a small engineering company in Western Canada designing equipment for the concrete and mining industries. In 2005, I quit my job and moved to France where I obtained a master’s degree at the European campus of Georgia Tech. In 2007, I enrolled in the new Ph.D. program in the School of Engineering Education at Purdue University. For my dissertation work I am studying three groups of engineering students involved in international education experiences in China and Africa.
