Biography
Tyler Williams is a Master’s student at the school of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. He received the B.S.M.E with Highest Distinction in 2009 from Purdue. He is currently a research assistant for Professor E. Daniel Hirleman. His research focus is energy systems with and emphasis on renewable energies and irrigation. His thesis project is Optimization of Photovoltaic Powered Deficit Irrigation, and he recently designed and installed an irrigation system in Rwanda, Africa in January 2011. He is a cofounder, graduate advisor, and former president of the Purdue Chapter of Engineers for a Sustainable World. He also serves on the search committee for the next Head of the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue. Tyler received the Helen and John Lozar Assistantship as a graduate student and was a three-time recipient of the Arthur G. Spillette Scholarship as an undergraduate student.
