What is ESW-Purdue?

ESW-Purdue is a Purdue University Student Organization and acts as the Purdue chapter of the national Engineers for a Sustainable World organization. The Purdue chapter was founded in the Summer of 2008.

Our chapter mission is to engage engineers in reducing poverty by improving environmental, social, and economic sustainability worldwide.

The four principles on which ESW-Purdue was founded are:

  • To partner technical and educational resources to develop sustainable technological solutions in communities where need has been locally identified.
  • To promote awareness of technological challenges in under-served communities.
  • To promote awareness of sustainable technology appropriate to the community in terms of culture, resources, and local demand.
  • To form and sustain dynamic partnerships between students, academia, and professionals in service to ESW.
