Abstract

An individual’s choices are greatly influenced by their culture, values and experiences. I come from a background which has always been involved in various types of businesses and no one really has pursued higher education. This helped me take an initial decision that I will definitely try something non-business oriented. When I enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, I enjoyed the physics and math lectures and started to develop a keen interest in the subject, and its overwhelmingly large impact on our daily life. Each lecture added a new dimension to my understanding of the subject, and I would reluctantly come away, desperately wanting more. The application of science and math in the real world completely fascinated me. This is the reason I chose engineering. Gradually, I started to deal with different fields of engineering. My interest in Mechanical Engineering was mainly due to Robots, Cars, Designing. Also, Mechanical Engineering was such a diverse field that it would allow me to encompass any aspect of engineering.
