Abstract

Through my whole life, I was always told, “you’re going to be an engineer.” My name is Kyle Rector, and I am pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering. This degree will be the first stone on the path to meeting global engineering challenges and creating my own niche in the world of tomorrow.

As mentioned before, I have always been told that I was bound to be an engineer. While this was certainly a compliment, I never saw the truth in it until coming to the University. Apart from simply being told I should do it, I chose mechanical engineering as an outlet to my creativity and a challenge to my problem solving ability. Even from childhood I exhibited an aptitude for generating unique solutions for problems, whether working around a discrepancy in Lego instructions, or testing the support of a card-board house.
