Abstract

Brett Bannon is my name and Rochester, New York is my hometown. I am currently in my second year at Purdue University, and I am seeking a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. In junior high and high school I always enjoyed math and science courses. They intrigued me, held my attention, and left me wanting more. I was always in the accelerated, AP, honors, or whatever you want to call it, classes of math and science. Despite being one of the youngest kids in my grade, I was taking geometry, trigonometry, algebra, calculus, chemistry, and physics with kids who were sometimes two years older than myself. Due to word of mouth from friends of my parents, Purdue was one of the three colleges I applied to. I ended up choosing to go here because of its distinguished engineering reputation, and the tremendous campus life I observed during a visit in early spring of 2008. I will never know what life would be like if I had decided to go to another school, but I cannot see how my college situation could be better and I consider myself very lucky to be at Purdue University.
