Abstract

My name is Daniel Stubbs and I am a sophomore in the school of Mechanical Engineering here at Purdue University. I have chosen Engineering because of my desire to be pushed academically, and for my love of math and science. I entered mechanical engineering mostly for its wide range of available paths, which will enable me to search different opportunities and find what I truly love to do without ever having to switch engineering schools. Before enrolling in the first year engineering program, I had several opportunities to talk with other engineers. I was able to find that my interests as well as my goals and personality lined up perfect for becoming a successful engineer. Now that I am finishing my second year at Purdue I have no question that I have made the right choice. I have been blessed in the fact that most all of my classes have been enjoyable and challenging. I am also looking forward to future classes in which I will be challenged even further. This has only added to my knowledge that mechanical engineering is truly where I am supposed to be. Engineering has been most rewarding to me in that it has taught me dedication, and perseverance. In addition it has taught me that you must work for the things you care about, and that once this hard work pays off you will benefit so much more than if it took no work at all.
