Abstract

Globalization compels new strategies for education, research, and engagement at all levels of academic institutions. This is especially true at the department level where the faculty and students actually interact. This presentation provides information for departments considering an effort to systematically infuse global concepts into their mission. It includes: rationale for instituting a global strategy; elements of a global strategy; insights into International Programs Offices and multiscale integration of international efforts across university-, college-, and department-levels; and finally some information on NSF Programs, including IREE, that support international research and education activities.
