Today was a lecture intensive day. We started out with an engaging lecture by Dr. Paul Ebner about different ways to raise animals. He mainly discussed the topic of organic livestock. This was helpful for me because it is something I hear about all the time but has turned into more of a popular buzz word. He gave us the the exect criteria that makes a certain livestock obtain the organic seal of approval from the FDA. Lacking an agricultural background this was a very informative lecture to really understand what was really behind organic. After learning about it I have to wonder whether this is really an effective process, or if it is just a new trend that is more nominal than anything?

He had about 30 acres in which a portion of the land was a banana plantation. This was their major money maker. We then had a short walk through the jungle in which he was working on reforesting the land in order to bring back more indigenous plants and animals in order for possible eco tourism, which I find as a long shot but that is just my opinion. Finally we went to the grazing lands for his cows.
